Community Comes Together, Cleans Up Area Lakes

Nikki Wilson and her daughter, Mia, 4, clean up trash Saturday as part of the annual Lakes Cleanup Day. Volunteers picked up trash from both Albert Lea and Fountain lakes. The Lakes Foundation of Albert Lea provided gloves and trash bags for the volunteers, and staff from the Shell Rock River Watershed District were also on hand. Tom Blegen of Albert Lea picks up trash along Albert Lea Lake in Frank Hall Park as part of the annual Lakes Cleanup Day. People of all ages came out for the event, which has originated since 1934.
