Fountain Lake Park Rain Garden 2014
In 2014, the City of Albert Lea began the Broadway Avenue Streetscape and Infrastructure Improvement Project. One component of this project included a large rain garden, located in the Fountain Lake Park, to treat stormwater runoff before being discharged into Fountain Lake. This artistic and scientific design used over 3,000 native flower and grasses that resulted in improved water clarity, beauty, pollinator value, and reduced maintenance for this public rain garden.
The Shell Rock River Watershed donated $17,500 in funds to go towards the construction of the Fountain Lake Park Rain Garden.
