Leave It on the Lawn 2006
The SRRWD partnered with the City of Albert Lea and Freeborn County Environmental Services to create a ‘Leave it on the Lawn’ campaign. The message behind this campaign was to spread information about leaving grass clippings on the lawn to prevent excess nutrients from entering waterways. The District rented billboards around Albert Lea displaying information about the campaign and contact information for the District. Fliers, door hangers, and brochures were also made and distributed. These documents included a ‘Do you Know’, ‘Tips to Leave it on the Lawn’, and an additional section that gave landowners alternatives such as mulching the grass, creating a backyard compost, and sending the yard waste to the Albert Lea Transfer Station.
